
James Rees is Programme Leader for the BA(Hons) Creative Music Production programme.
James is a singer-songwriter from the West Midlands. Since graduating with a music technology degree from the University of Huddersfield in 2008, James has been a duel practitioner, working in both music and education.
As a musician and songwriter, he fronted Stourbridge band The Pargeters with whom he toured the UK. The band recorded their debut EP in Wolverhampton with renowned producer Gavin Monaghan (The Twang, Paolo Nutini, Editors, Ocean Colour Scene).
James completed his teacher training at the University of Warwick in 2012 and in 2015 James moved to London to further his career and add to his extensive experience in leading and delivering successful programmes in music performance, music technology and songwriting. In 2019 he completed his postgraduate degree in Songwriting.
Currently, James sings tenor in the North London based choir Camden Voices and tours the country as a guitarist for Pynch.
