Session drummer Siân Monaghan is one of our new tutors for the academic year 20/21.

Thanks to her passion and commitment to all her musical endeavours, she has been named one of London's most skilled and inspiring drum tutors.

Having recently won Americana Association UK’s ‘Instrumentalist of the Year Award 2020’, Siân is well known for working across styles with a range of artists including REWS, Jessie Buckley, Stick in the Wheel, She Drew the Gun, China Crisis and The Wandering Hearts. Her independent work has also seen her collaborate with electronica artists and producers all over the world. After developing a love for percussion at a young age, Siân began playing in her local orchestra at just 12 years old.

She soon threw herself into a variety of styles and found herself at the Montreaux Jazz Festival playing big band jazz at 17. She continues to be deeply passionate about the music she was brought on by her family, such as folk and blues. Influences include the Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Police, Fairport Convention, Joni Mitchell and The Beatles.
