Gerard O’Connell is a talented singer-songwriter with experience at the very highest levels of the music industry. He has worked extensively with big international names and major record labels and has a passion for teaching and sharing his experience.

Gerard started his career as an artist, signing to Island Records before moving into songwriting. In 2009, he began working with production powerhouse Xenomania as an in-house writer, working with artists including The Wanted, Cheryl Cole, The Saturdays, and notably Kylie Minogue, writing several cuts for her platinum-selling album, Aphrodite. Subsequently, Gerard signed with Perfect Songs publishing and Spilt Milk management, regularly collaborating with their other writers, such as Eg White (Adele, Sam Smith) and Justin Parker (Lana Del Ray, Bat For Lashes).

Gerard is an associate artist at The Roundhouse, Camden, and helped set up their songwriting programme for 15-24 year-olds. He has also run intensive songwriting workshops with The Guardian newspaper and Sony Xperia. In the past year he has been writing and developing many artists such as Will Heard, Pixie Lott, Jacob Banks, Lawson, Ellie Ingram, and many more, as well as collaborating with producers such as Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith’s ‘Money on my mind’) and Wilkinson (‘Afterglow’).
