We’re delighted to announce a number of ICMP tutors have been recognised by the well respected Higher Education Academy (HEA) for their teaching quality and commitment to educational best practice.

ICMP has long been renowned for the quality of its faculty, composed of a unique mix of qualified teachers, industry professionals and experienced academics. This approach has recently been strengthened as several tutors have recently joined their colleagues as members of the HEA.

The HEA is a professional membership organisation for higher education institutions with a programme in place to recognise academic expertise and excellence.

Jonathan Whiskerd, ICMP’s Programmes Manager BA (Hons) Songwriting & BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship, Lucy Bernstein, Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship, Rich Patterson, BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance, Lucinda Allen, Deputy Programme Leader for BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance and Dan Green, Deputy Programme Leader for BA Songwriting, all achieved recognition as senior fellows.

Tutors Ledda Chapman and Erika Footman received the fellow accreditation.

All had to give a presentation or provide a written piece to University of East London’s (UEL) validating panel to receive the accreditation.

Commenting, Jonathan said:

“Our team took a collegiate approach to preparing for the presentation which proved to be invaluable.

Not only are we incredibly strong on the quality of our music education offering but we’re also committed to improving the quality of ICMP’s educational team and output. We are very grateful for the opportunity to achieve this recognition of our professional expertise."

Tony Harris, ICMP’s Dean of Academic Studies, said:

Well done to all our team on gaining these awards. It’s been great to see the achievements of our teaching faculty and our structured programme of development acknowledged by HEA."

“This initiative is funded by ICMP in partnership with our validating body UEL and shows off the excellence of our dedicated teaching staff.”

A number of ICMP tutors will be appearing before the UEL awarding panel in December 2018 to apply for similar accreditation.
