We’re delighted to be welcoming BBC Radio 1’s Abbie McCarthy to ICMP for an afternoon of 1:1 sessions with our students.

The industry tastemaker is the latest music industry expert to visit our Kilburn college to give her advice and guidance as part of these exclusive A&R 1:1s.

Previously, the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart, artist manager (and ICMP alumna) Vic Becks and Warner/Chappell A&R manager Tom Coulson-Smith have visited.

Hosted by our Careers and Industry Hub team, the sessions involve senior industry figures meeting our students, listening to their music and offering advice and guidance.

Abbie McCarthy is a much in-demand broadcaster, presenter and new music champion.

Currently, she presents BBC Music Introducing in Kent but has also been heard across Radio 1, covering shows from the likes of Huw Stephenson and Matt Edmondson.

She has been recognised by the Radio Academy as one of the brightest young broadcasting talents, featuring in their 30 under 30 list.

Her other achievements include 2018’s induction into the Roll of Honour at Music Week’s Women In Music Awards 2018.

Abbie is the mastermind behind Good Karma Club, a club night championing the hottest new bands around. Previous alumni include The Amazons, Pale Waves and Tom Grennan.

Read our previous blog featuring Abbie from the Ditto Music Conference and look out for our interview with her from the visit.
