The ICMP Spotlight aims to support as many students and alumni as possible in their personal careers within the music industry.
Whether you'll be working on a musical, joining a cover band, starting out as a booking agent/artist manager/music journalist/etc, we want to know all about it and support you with any possible means.
Each week we present a student or graduate music project, making it our #ICMPSpotlight.
THE AUDIO EDITORIAL • A service for musicians, by musicians
by BASW student Constance Marzell-Kyme
Over the summer, BA Songwriting student Constance Marzell-Kyme started to write Spotify and Soundcloud bios, press releases, and website content to earn extra money. She surely didn't expect to get such good reviews or become as popular as she did...!
I realised that, short of contacting a huge PR company, the only other option for DIY artists who want a bio or press release written is to commission inexperienced writers, who often are not connected to the independent music scene. Most musicians aren’t writers; most writers aren’t musicians. At The Audio Editorial, every member of the team is both!"
The Audio Editorial is a great resource for independent artists who need a budget-friendly option that is also high-quality and most importantly understands the DIY scene and a musician's requirements inside and out.
Constance is a songwriter and independent artist herself and this is what enabled her to sum up what her clients needed in the way she did - she understands it from an artist's point of view.
She has now built a small team of genre specialists, though she's still recruiting for more. Get in touch if interested!
If instead you're an artist and you want to work with her and her team, she's currently offering 20% discount for all ICMP students. Email her to find out more.
The Audio Editorial is a content writing service for musicians, by musicians.
