The ICMP/ATLA/Le Reacteur International Songwriting Contest has launched at ICMP with live performances and a songwriting masterclass from ATLA’s John Meldrum

John visited ICMP to offer his songwriting advice and guidance as well as judge performances from 12 ICMP students.

Shane Beales, ICMP’s BA Songwriting Programme Leader, visited ATLA to judge the French school’s chosen students.

Six from ICMP and ATLA will now go forward to the next round and perform at the final of the contest at the Fiddler on 16th March.

Commenting, John Meldrum said:

I had a wonderful experience listening to the talented and well prepared students of the ICMP performing their original songs in a packed room at the school. It was difficult to choose the six finalists for the big final round on March 16th at the Fiddler along with the six contestants from ATLA in Paris. It's sure to be a great night of new music!"

The winners will get the chance to record the song in a studio along with a video of a live performance filmed and edited by professionals.

The 2019 final, held on Thursday 21st March, saw five ICMP students travel to Paris to perform their own original material and compete with ATLA finalists in front of a packed crowd in ATLA’s Woodstock concert room.

First year songwriting student Leah Finegold was one of the winners
