ICMP is delighted to be partnering with the Young Songwriter 2022 competition to champion the next generation of artists and creatives.

The Young Songwriter 2022 competition is open for entries from the 1st February until the 31st March 2022.

Judges for the contest include the likes of Tom Odell, ICMP alumnus Fraser T Smith, Miranda Cooper and Tom Grennan.

Prizes include £1,000 of Yamaha equipment and a recording studio session with a top producer alongside song feedback.

The 2021 winners were invited to spend a day working in the studio with ICMP Music Production Tutor Charlie Thomas

In previous years, ICMP's songwriting students have helped judge and provide feedback on the music of many of the entrants.

Ace, Head of Industry Partnerships, said: “The Song Academy and their Young Songwriter competition offer artists a brilliant platform to get their music heard and appraised by some of the best in the business.

At ICMP, our aims are to inspire and engage with the songwriters of tomorrow and are a great fit with the Academy. We’re delighted to be continuing our collaboration in 2022."

Fraser T Smith, songwriter, producer and ICMP alumnus, said: “With so much going on in the world, it’s never been more vital for young people to be able to channel their energy and emotions into something positive, which is what The Young Songwriter competition encourages and facilitates through songwriting.

Every young person has something to say, a story to tell, or a message to share - that’s why the Song Academy is so important to our community."

It costs £10 to enter a song (to cover judging and admin costs) and songwriters need to submit song lyrics and an mp3 file of the track.
