ICMP was delighted to celebrate the musical achievements of our graduates with a virtual Awards Ceremony 2020.

With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic preventing a physical gathering from taking place, we instead chose to take the event online and recognise the hard work of students virtually instead.

Graduates from across ICMP’s programmes including BA Creative Musicianship, the HNC and MA Songwriting among others were all celebrated for their musical achievements.

Alongside the awards, the event also featured a performance from the brilliant talents of 21-year-old singer/songwriter Rachel Chinouriri.

Speaking during the event, Professor Tony Harris, ICMP’s Dean of Academic Studies, said: “This year has been a challenge, particularly for our graduating students just as you should have been celebrating your final weeks.

But the pandemic has brought out the very best in the team here at ICMP. It’s been great to see the collective endeavours of our tutors to find new ways to deliver programmes and assessments, the strong sense of community and the creative, innovative solutions to the challenges of lockdown.”

“I want to pay tribute to you the students - for your understanding and patience with us - we could not have got through the last few months without you. You have been truly remarkable.”

Corrina Taylor, MA Songwriting alumna and winner of the Outstanding Student Award, said: "It’s so amazing to win the award. The MA in Songwriting has been such a huge part of my life for two years and I loved it so much."

"The award was sent to my mum's house. She said to me:  "Why do you keep ordering things when you’re not here?" I didn’t know what she meant, so she opened it on FaceTime with me and it was the best surprise ever! I screamed: "MUM, I WON THE AWARD!!!!" and she showed it to me through the camera! I can’t wait to get back to the UK and hold it finally!"

She added:

The virtual awards ceremony was really lovely and I’m really happy ICMP pulled it together. In some ways it was actually better, because all four of my grandparents were watching, my mum, my brother, my dad in Australia and my boyfriend who is currently in Korea!"

We’d like to once again wish all our graduates well and give a big thanks to our sponsors and partners for their brilliant support.

Our sponsors include the Musicians' Union, Orange Learn, the ISM, Catalyst Music Publishing, Acustica Audio and Audient
