ICMP and BMG have partnered with Music Business and Entrepreneurship tutor and BMG executive Ian Ramage to support music charity Tomorrow’s Warriors.

Ian works full-time at the major label BMG as their Vice President of Repertoire & Marketing but still finds time to teach students on the programme thanks to the support of BMG.

As part of an agreement, BMG is supporting Ian’s teaching on the ‘The Music Business: a concise history’ module with his fee used as a donation to the organisation.

Commenting, Ian said: "We wanted to act and do what we could to support the Black Lives Matter movement and promote diversity. The conventional narrative surrounding the music industry’s history often fails to acknowledge the huge importance of Black culture and influence."

At BMG, we felt education is the most effective way to tackle this and redress how the story of the music industry is told. It also aligned with our work to offer more opportunities to aspiring professionals from under-represented backgrounds."

Tomorrow’s Warriors' Janine Irons MBE (pictured above) was invited to speak to students at ICMP as part of the collaboration with Ian and BMG.

Commenting, Janine said: "We were delighted that Tomorrow’s Warriors was selected by BMG’s POC Committee as a charitable organisation they wanted to support for our work with young people and increasing diversity in UK jazz."

I always enjoy meeting with young people and I had the pleasure to speak with two groups of Ian’s ICMP students and tell them about our work at Tomorrow's Warriors, the motivation and purpose behind the organisation and why it’s more important than ever to keep our foot on the pedal to maintain and increase diversity, equity and inclusion."

The donation will be used to support Tomorrow's Warriors' core costs to ensure the organisation continues to exist and support the new musical talent coming through.

Following their 30th anniversary in 2021, Tomorrow's Warriors have a variety of initiatives and events in the calendar for 2022. They include A Grime Supreme workshop for emerging artist at London's Southbank Centre and a takeover at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

You can also listen to their monthly broadcast on Worldwide FM.
