Here at ICMP we are proud to support our community and always look forward to sharing their successes.

Each Tuesday, we present a student or alumn music project, making it our #ICMPSpotlight of the week.

This time we've chosen to shine a light on E.P.I.S.O.D.A., a recent six-song release by Satch Satchell, one of our MA Songwriting students.

E.P.I.S.O.D.A., a 6-track concept EP by Satch Satchell

Worthing born talented Satch Satchell is one of our MA Songwriting students, currently on his second part-time year of the programme. Born in a family in which everyone played instruments for the church, he grew up surrounded by music. Born as a boy within a girl’s body, Satch’s inner battles became apparent very early on. At the age of 25, Satch announced to his family that he was going to transition; finally, he began his long journey to become the person he was born to be.

In 2018, Satch recorded a six-track EP called 'E.P.I.SO.D.A', a trip through the life cycle of a relationship that describes how - while people are all different - they feel love and heartbreak in the same way.

The EP was made before going on testosterone which caused Satch's voice to break. With 'E.P.I.SO.D.A', Satch Satchell has become the first-ever artist to duet with himself on the same track, in two different octaves.

Last December, Satch performed the whole EP live for the first time at Rialto Theatre in Brighton, playing his original, pre-testosterone vocal recording as a backing track whilst - essentially - duetting with himself live. During the show, bespoke music videos for 'E.P.I.S.O.D.A.' played on stage behind the band, creating a truly immersive experience across different mediums.
