Ableton Live is the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) of choice for many of today’s most celebrated music producers. Whether you’ve been using Ableton for years or are new to music production, you'll gain the experience and know-how needed to get the most from the platform at this one day weekend clinic in Liverpool.
Across this one-day Ableton Live weekend course, you'll learn to make music your way by:
- Composing music with Ableton Live
- Sampling and programming your own beats
- Experimenting with Ableton Push
- Creating your own instrument libraries
- Mixing and mastering your own tracks
Across the eight hours of the clinic, you’ll develop an impressive understanding of how to use Ableton Live to produce the music you want to create. By the end, you'll be excited to go home and produce your own electronic music... or progress your Ableton Live learning with an intermediate-level course.
Course Timetable
10am - 10:30am: Induction to the SAE Liverpool campus
10:30am - 12pm: Introduction to Ableton Live software
12pm - 1pm: Ableton Live practical workshop
1pm - 2pm: Lunch break
2pm - 4:30pm: Introduction to the Ableton Push 2 Machines
4:30pm - 6pm: Songwriting and Music Production collaborative workshop
Course Features
Ableton Push machines Take your electronic music performances to the next level as you learn to play with Ableton Push hardware, provided by ICMP.
Beatmaking and sampling Dive into the world of original beatmaking as you craft your own rhythms and learn to sample sounds from the world around you.
Face-to-face learning Study in person in industry-standard facilities at SAE Liverpool, while networking with your classmates and SAE songwriting weekend students.
Creative Networking Meet and collaborate with likeminded music producers and songwriters on the course to create your own electronic music tracks
Get hands-on with Ableton Push
As you explore Ableton Live, you’ll also learn to use Ableton Push 2 machine, provided by ICMP. This means you’ll develop your Ableton software skills and explore performance capabilities on Ableton hardware at the same time.
You’ll also propel your creativity on the Push as you cover sampling and beat making, jam with your tutor and peers, explore songcraft and arrangements and perform on stage in SAE state-of-the-art Performance Studio.

Ableton Clinic Tutor: Paul Hunter
You’d be hard pressed to find an electronic music producer more qualified than your tutor, Paul Hunter.
Paul is an international DJ, producer and remixer, with tracks signed to many labels, including Mute, Ministry of Sound and Positiva Records. He achieved a No. 1 on the American Billboard charts with the band Desert and gained regular support from major players on the progressive house scene, including Sasha, John Digweed and Xpress 2.
He has recorded under various pseudonyms such has Hong Honk Trash, The Imposters and Paulos producing music in various genres such as house, trip hop, drum and bass, progressive house. Over the years, Paul has had synchronisation licenses for his music with TV networks including channel 4 and the BBC.
