Austrian Audio is a young brand backed by over 350 years of cumulative engineering experience.
Following the closure of the AKG offices in Vienna, the team set out to create something new, challenging, and respectful to their heritage. Opening their doors in July 2017, Austrian Audio was born.
Armed with a wealth of experience and a mission to make passion heard, Austrian Audio's team of experts were ready to take on the industry giants by striving to produce products that embody the sound and engineering excellence one would expect from a company with their history.
They started with a core team of 22 former AKG personnel from management, acoustics, electronics, test and measurement, mechanical design, RF/wireless, and software and firmware – and are continuing to grow.
They may be relatively new, but the skill, knowledge, and tradition live on at Austrian Audio, backed by over 350 years of cumulative engineering experience. And they're not only focused on heritage: keep an eye on where their journey is taking technology, audio, and them.

Microphones Made in Austria
Engineered and manufactured in Austria, The OC818 is Austrian Audio’s premier, professional, large-diaphragm microphone. Its high sensitivity, low self-noise and ability to handle everything from a whisper to extreme SPLs make it the most advanced microphone for studio, broadcast and live applications. As the unique ceramic capsule design is so consistent, ANY OC818 is match-paired with ANY other OC818, and when in cardioid mode, it can also be match-paired with ANY OC18.
The OC18 is Austrian Audio’s affordable large-diaphragm microphone a classic cardioid directional pattern with identical acoustic characteristics as its big brother the OC818.
With free software plug-ins, the OC818 can be used and the sound manipulated in many ways even in post-production.
Headphones with High Excursion technology
Hi-X (High Excursion) technology is the key to the astonishing sound of our headphones. All Austrian Audio Hi-X headphones feature a 44 mm driver and a ring magnet system. This design allows for improved airflow and includes the strongest magnetic field in its class. The ring magnet, combined with a copper-clad aluminium voice coil, reduces the weight of the membrane and the voice coil connected to it, allowing the membrane to move or change direction faster, providing a more responsive impulse reaction.
