Cristy Taviner | Live Music

Our BA in Music Business and Entrepreneurship alumna Cristy Taviner has enjoyed opportunities and success across a range of areas of the music industry.

From hosting her own club nights and live band events to internships with Jackie Davidson Management and booking agency ITB, her experience has touched different areas of the sector with a recent focus on live music.

Her projects while studying with us included her SJC Promotions company which was the recipient of backing from our Accelerator Fund

Cristy also ran her own 'Cristy Talks to' podcast shortly after completing her studies while the Covid-19 restrictions put a hold on live music.

Commenting on her time at ICMP, she said:

I clicked with ICMP instantly, I loved the feel of it and London was a great place to further my industry career, whether it be recording, publishing, management or more."

Cristy previously took on the role of gig rep for Funnel Music before landing a fantastic job with Festival Republic as a Licensing Assistant. Her position saw her working across a number of events including the mighty Reading Festival, a must-attend event for any lovers of live guitar music.

In 2023, Cristy joined Bristol-based festival and event promotion company Team Love as Artists Accreditation Manager. Team Love are a key player in the world-renowned Glastonbury festival, overseeing the festival's massively popular Wow! stage, which has become the festival’s go-to destination for forward-thinking dance music under the company's direction. The company have also booked and run stages at Secret Garden Party, The Big Chill, Somersault, Wilderness and Glade.

For anyone wanting to follow in her footsteps on the Music Business and Entrepreneurship course, Cristy said: "Get involved with as much as possible. Reach out to your industry people, then when you get a yes for an internship or a gig - you can really go for it."

Speak to as many people as possible, develop relationships, and remember that the industry is very small. You always bump into the same people."

"You never know who is going to be on the next project, and never be scared to ask questions. It's always better to ask things and get it right."
