As a music licensing assistant for HotHouse Music, ICMP Music Business and Entrepreneurship alumna Rebecca Cribb works on music for TV shows and films including 2022 Danny Boyle hit, Pistol’

Rebecca’s role sees here dealing with clearing music for use in visual media. Another part of the business is a composer agency which Rebecca supports while she also manages the company’s social media channels too.

Initially, Rebecca studied art foundation, then started exploring opportunities around music photography. It was while undertaking this that she became involved in student radio and putting on live events.

Although initially unsure of what areas of the industry she wanted to investigate, at ICMP Rebecca had the opportunity to uncover different topics through her studies. She cites a second year module on music publishing as leading her to find out more about the world of music supervision.

Commenting, Rebecca said: "The second year module with ICMP tutor Tony Moss on publishing started my interest and showed me the kind of skills I needed to work in this side of the sector.” .

"Jamie Johnston and Yannis Iliopoulos both spurred me on to push myself - they were always there suggesting ideas. They made me feel like I had lots of options and I wasn’t limited to anything which was really nice. They were great influences on me."

After she finished her studies, Rebecca emailed Domino as the label was offering work experience. She was invited to the office where she went for an interview.

Rebecca continued: "Domino’s Head of sync had just left to become MD of HotHouse Music. After I met with Dominoi, they passed on my details. I interviewed and interned, then was offered a full-time role."

Now she is working full-time at HotHouse, Rebecca is busying herself with a number of different projects.

For anyone looking to follow in her footsteps, she stated:

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and always remember to ask anything you’re unsure about. No question is a stupid one."

Congratulations to Rebecca on her role. Watch the trailer for 'Pistol' and visit the HotHouse Music website for more.
