Them Bloody Kids are a 3-piece alternative metal band based in London, started by Sebastian Moederle-Lumb (BA Songwriting student) in 2018. Their music combines raw metal, world influences, and the funkiest grooves to create catchy tunes to dance and mosh your heart out to. The band came together based on their love of System of a Down and Scars On Broadway, though their influences include RHCP, Muse, Black Sabbath, Smashing Pumpkins, Machine Head and Periphery. Their new single is called  'Shown No Love'.

Songwriting alumna Lauren St James is a pop singer, songwriter, and producer. ‘Gold’ is her debut single, written and produced by Lauren herself. The song is about trying to overcome the shame and regret that people feel after an ex has treated you badly.

"The main tag line ‘everything that glitters isn’t gold’ is to signify that people aren’t always what they seem, but that’s not your fault, it’s just life!"

MONARCHEE

Taehee, from South Korea, and Violaine, from France, met in London and formed the MONARCHEE due. Taehee is the producer, Violaine the lead singer. Their latest release, Greenbay, is about a secret place where everything is calm, quiet and beautiful. It’s an oasis of harmony, love, self-love. It’s a place where the brains stop overthinking, where the minds are at peace and the hearts are at rest.

"...For us, Greenbay is flooded by a warm and soft sun, the water is transparent and still, and the wind in the palm trees spoils us with its delicate salty scent. But Greenbay is not a place, it’s more a state of mind…"

BA Creative Musicianship student Jaan is not new on our Release Radar. Just over a month ago he released a cover of Billie Eilish's 'Lovely', sung - of course- with his sister, whom he shares all his music projects with. The new track is called 'Take A Break' and it is about:

"...being lazy except for this one girl. I sing about making excuses to not do anything except if it's for her."

KAHLLA

Freya Volk, aka KAHLLA, one of our Songwriting alumni, makes music that merges her classical upbringing with dreamy soundscapes, electronic drum grooves, and layered vocals. The result? Intimate and vulnerable pop songs that will throw the listener headfirst into her world. 'Sense Of Self' is the first track from her debut EP, set for release in Spring 2020.

"Sometimes it's hard to listen to yourself and have confidence in yourself - but carving out your own path over listening to friends, family, relationships and social media is so important. Sense of Self is a quiet celebration of finding yourself after feeling lost among this noise."

This song is a cover of one of her all-time favourites by SBTRKT, though she is planning to release a song every month in 2020, all of which will be self-produced.
