Congratulations to ICMP Music Business and Entrepreneurship alumnus Billy Bagnall who has started a new job working for the legendary Mute Records.

He follows in the footsteps of ICMP alumna Eve Norman who secured a role with Mute in 2022 and was active in his recruitment for the post.

Mute's roster features some of the music world’s most unique and creative artists including Depeche Mode, New Order, HAAi and many more.

Billy has completed his studies with ICMP and is now in full-time employment with Mute Records as Label Assistant, a role that sees him working on promotion, administering metadata for upcoming physical and digital releases and much more.

He said: "One of the things the ICMP course does so well is give you a great sense of how the industry works, how labels and publishers operate. Coming into this job, I already had a solid underlying knowledge of the industry."

I work for an indie label - so my role crosses various functions of the business. ICMP offers a wide range of modules covering many facets of the industry, and this prepares you really well to become multi-disciplinary."

Billy works as part of a small team at Mute alongside Eve who has now gone on to a role as Label Coordinator within the label.

Elsewhere, other ICMP students have helped facilitate opportunities for their peers and successors with Izzy Eddies and Amelia Hooper-Jennings both offering work to other members of the ICMP music community.

Commenting, Jamie Johnston, BA Live Event Management Programme Leader, said: "It’s great to see we’re creating an organic ecosystem of opportunity among our students."

"We’re helping to develop a proactive mindset among our community to help give them the confidence to take advantage of this network."

Congratulations again to Billy on his new job.
