Richard Fairlie • Artist

Richard Fairlie is a recent ICMP graduate whose star is very much in the ascendance.

As a BA Songwriting student, Richard’s talents shone via his stunning voice and brilliant songwriting skills. Releasing ‘Give Me Your Love’ and ‘Torn’ while still with us, he managed to simultaneously complete his studies and build a devoted fanbase online, leading to Richard signing a deal with Columbia, Sony at the end of 2019.

The first single to be released via the major label, ‘Fonda On the Roof’, has so far been added to Spotify's New Music Friday Deutschland and Frühlings Chillout as well as Filtr. Chill & Relax playlist too. He's racked-up almost 4 million Spotify streams in total, a number which continues to rapidly grow.

Commenting on his time at ICMP in a recent interview, Richard said:

When you’re not in the music industry and everything feels like an inaccessible parallel universe, having people currently working within the business, showing you how things are done is truly eye-opening."

Richard Fairlie • London Artist

On the importance of studying in London, he added: "Places like the Kensal Town Studios are packed with real geniuses. If you get a session there, and you're lucky, you could be eating lasagne with Ed Sheeran!

"In London, everything can be a networking event without feeling like it, which is so refreshing."

While studying with us, Richard was a regular performer at our Songwriters’ Circles events. His talents shone so brightly on one particular evening that he managed to land himself a support slot with special guests, The Dunwells, at one of their high profile London gigs.

He was also one of the students we chose for our Audient Session series, a day of recording and filming with ICMP talent in our flagship studio.
