Spotlight: 10 Videos To Brighten Your Days

Each Tuesday, we present a student or graduate music project, making it our #ICMPSpotlight of the week.

This time we've chosen to shine a light on 10 Videos To Brighten Your Days, a project by ICMP band The Valla.

ICMP SPOTLIGHT: 14TH APRIL 2020

10 VIDEOS TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAYS, A PROJECT BY THE VALLA BAND.

The Valla, band that features alumni George Coulson (BA Songwriting) and Alex Walker (BMus Music Performance), have recently come up with an artistically challenging yet exciting project; write, record a song, and shoot a video for it every day, for ten days in total!

The idea is simple; to brighten up the vibe of these gloomy times."

The band told us about the daily process, step by step;

George would be the one usually writing a song and creating a demo of it in Logic for the rest of the band to understand it. Then, everyone would record their own video to the demo - hoping to be on the same page as there clearly wasn't much room for retakes!

Then, the video editing process would begin, taking up to up to 5 hours (!!!) Depending on the progress of the day the video would be finished between 2 and 3 in the morning, then scheduled to be released at about 10 am the following day.

Fair to say that the band is exhausted but so happy to have achieved this!​
