ICMP’s Head of Songwriting Sophie Daniels was among the speakers at the first ever F-List Gender Research Hub Conference.

Taking place in May at the University of Wolverhampton, the event saw a mixture of in person and online talks alongside performances from leading songwriters and artists.

Among the speakers were F-List Founder Vick Bain, Dr Jo Collison-Scott from the University of West Scotland, Dr Laura Hamer from the Open University, Kingston University’s Dr Helen Minor, Dr Linda Jankowska from the University of Huddersfield and Katherine Young from the Emory University.

Performers included ICMP tutor and MA Songwriting alumna Hannah Rose Platt and Anjali Perinparaja.

Commenting on the event, Sophie said: "It was fantastic to gather the F-List community in Wolverhampton to launch our Research Hub."

"Our group is a diverse collection of individuals from a range of disciplinary practices."

We are united by the fact we all understand how important research is in supporting advocacy and helping forge connections and collaborations. It was brilliant to be able to witness this first-hand at our launch event and I’m looking forward to us gathering again soon."

Other speakers included academics and music industry professionals including Holly Holister,  Jae Tallawah, Teegan Crawford and Naomi Cunningham.

The Research Hub has been launched by Sophie, F-List founder Vick Bain and Dr. Metka Potocnik, a Senior Lecturer at the Wolverhampton University Law Department and an expert on feminism in IP Law. Its aim is to enhance awareness of female research within the music industry.
