ICMP’s Head of Songwriting Sophie Daniels has hosted a new video series of Creative Conversations with leading music industry experts and academics.

The series was filmed during the summer of 2020 for the Masters in Songwriting students as part of the final module of their course.

These live discussion panels focused on a range of music industry topics including Creating in Uncertain Times, What is A&R in The Emerging World?, How Have Women Been Affected by the Pandemic and What Contribution Does Music Make in a Changing World?

Guests included personal coach Mo Cohen, LAB Records co-founder Marc Orr, singer-songwriter Rosie Lowe, hip hop educator and ethnomusicologist Reveal Poison (Revs) alongside ICMP tutors and faculty members such as Isobel Anderson, Catherine Anne Davies (The Anchoress), Charlotte Hatherley and Tim Elsenburg

Commenting, Sophie said: "These were live discussion panels on the topic of 'creating during uncertain times'. We aimed to open up this area of thinking to students as they worked remotely from all over the world on their Major Repertoire Projects.

We also used these discussions to showcase the group of top tutors who make up the supervisory team for the Major Repertoire Project, the destination module for our students. As ever I was thrilled with the team and their contributions and really enjoyed the discussions."

Students were able to watch the sessions online and submit questions ahead of time for discussion.

The fourth episode features ICMP's Associate Dean Professor Louise Jackson, ICMP tutor and multi-talented artist Catherine Anne Davies (The Anchoress), and the F-List founder Vick Bain.
