ICMP Vocal Tutor Barbara Amoakohene Pursey is the lead vocalist on a cover version of the classic New Order single, 'Blue Monday'

The track is the debut release from contemporary, mixed voice choir, Assemble and sees them collaborating with acclaimed UK beatboxer SK Shlomo

According to the group, they wanted to celebrate the originality and impact of this classic track while using the human voice to express electronic instruments to give a fresh interpretation.

Commenting, Barbara said:

The single is not so much a protest narrative but a recognition of self and others. It explores how we can come together through working together to see and appreciate our differences and similarities with a big dance at the end … HOPE."

Juliet Russell, Vocal Producer, Musical Director and Assemble Founder, said: "I could just hear the track vocally - the undulating synths, the pads, the low choir sustained notes, the nod to disco.

With the clean beatboxing, brassy bass humming, euphoric vocal melodies, harmonies and charming breakdowns that come totally unexpected, this track is a carefully crafted piece of art."

With the single now released, Assemble's achievements to date include performing on Channel 4’s 'First Dates' and contributing to Paloma Faith’s beautiful rendition of 'Silent Night', raising money and awareness for the #ThankYouMidwife campaign, supported by Pampers UK.

Barbara is the video's creative producer alongside providing lead vocals on the release.
