Spotlight: Stand By Me

Each Tuesday, we present a student or graduate music project, making it our #ICMPSpotlight of the week.

This time we've chosen to shine a light on Stand By Me, a project by OneOrchestra, featuring BA Songwriting alumnus Michael Amadi.

ICMP SPOTLIGHT: 28TH APRIL 2020

STAND BY ME, A PROJECT BY ONEORCHESTRA.

OneOrchestra is a collective of 73 musicians from over thirty nations, including the UK, Russia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Moldova, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus, Australia, The Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Iran, USA, Brazil, Austria, and Nigeria.

Their orchestral rendition of Ben E. King's iconic ‘Stand by Me’ is the work of award-winning arranger and composer, Michael Amadi, one of our BA Songwriting graduates. 

Michael created the project to raise money for healthcare workers like his mum, an A&E nurse in Florence, Italy, who are helping us in the fight against Covid-19.

 It’s a song that reminds us of the message to stand by each other and help each other out at this time.” 

The project, recorded remotely all around the world, will help to raise money for Masks for NHS Heroes. The release date is set for this Friday 1st May 2020.

The video was edited by a fellow ICMP graduate, Ben McConnachie aka Half.Crescent.

Money raised from downloading the song will go directly to the UK crowdfunding project, Masks for NHS Heroes, which was set up by NHS doctors with the aim of raising £3 million for PPE in hospitals, care homes, and ambulance trusts across the UK.

The song can be downloaded on the OneOrchestra website for £1.99 with all proceeds going directly to Masks for NHS Heroes. It is also available on the OneOrchestra Instagram, Youtube and Facebook channels.
