Spotlight: A | PART

The ICMP Spotlight aims to support as many students and alumni as possible in their personal careers within the music industry.

Whether you'll be working on a musical, joining a cover band, starting out as a booking agent/artist manager/music journalist/etc, we want to know all about it and support you with any possible means.

Each month we present a student or graduate music project, making it our #ICMPSpotlight.

A | PART• A remote recording project
by Higher Diploma alumn Pablo Tato

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the early months of 2020, musicians around the world saw their busy diaries full of gigs, sessions and performances disappear into thin air, their creative output stopped for months.

A | PART is Pablo Tato's (Higher Diploma - Guitar alumn) response to musicians need to be in the same room to make beautiful, heartfelt music.

Pablo, who's a guitarist, arranger, and producer, carefully selected a collection of ten of his favourites songs ever to cover, wrote the arrangements and curated a different line up for every track, eventually involving over 30 musicians who recorded remotely in their own home studios. All these songs were mixed and produced afterwards by Pablo.

The only rule: to make music together, being A | PART from each other."

Among the musicians who took part in the project, there was also ICMP's tutor Audrey Riley, who recorded an amazing cello part on the album version of 'It Was A Very Good Year' by Frank Sinatra, as well as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ed Harcourt, Moisés P. Sánchez, and Maud the Moth.

The crowdfunding project has just launched to fund the release of a limited vinyl-only edition of the A | PART album, a compilation of all the songs released during 2020.
