Congratulations to ICMP's Songwriting team who are joining broadcaster Huw Stephens' new show on BBC Radio 6 Music as musicologists.

Professor Sophie Daniels, Daniel Green, Head of Academic Development, and tutor Anjali Perinparaja have become 'Six Musicologists' on the brand new show starting in January.

Huw has taken over the slot from legendary DJ Steve Lamacq and ICMP's team will feature each week, helping to dissect songs and records for listeners.

Commenting, Sophie Daniels, Head of Songwriting, said: "I pre-recorded the first slot which is all about why and how songs rhyme and this goes out on 10th January."

"I had great fun creating the content with Huw and the show's producer and I look forward to working with them to investigate more songs chosen by BBC Radio 6 Music listeners in the future."

I'm a massive fan of the station and I’m thrilled that our talented team has the opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise with such a huge audience."

Dan Green said: "As a long time listener and admirer of 6 Music's output, contributing to their content presents an interesting opportunity to highlight musical concepts to a wider listening audience. I'm very much looking forward to working with Huw Stephens, the BBC Radio 6 Music team, and Sophie and Anjali on this project."

The slot is about 10-12 minutes long and will be broadcast every Wednesday at 5.40pm.

It will be available to listen to after broadcast via BBC Sounds.

Congratulations to the Songwriting team and stay tuned for their first broadcast.
