ICMP BA Songwriting graduate Lauren Alex Hooper has released her debut single to raise money for mental health charity Young Minds.
The track ‘Invisible’ is Lauren’s first release and tackles her experiences with anxiety and depression.
It's about my experience with mental illness, with anxiety and depression. I asked for support over and over again - from doctors, from counsellors - and no one would help me."
"So when it came to writing this song, I went to my friend and most trusted co-writer, Richard Sanderson (my fellow songwriting graduate); we met on our first day at ICMP and have been great friends ever since.
"I felt safe to write about something so personal with him and it absolutely couldn't have happened without him - he's a fantastic writer and so supportive. A year on and the song is finally coming out. The proceeds are going to Young Minds, the mental health charity for young people, and I'm so, so proud and excited about that."
