We were delighted to welcome the Grammy Award winning music producer Aamir Yaqub for a masterclass.

As a producer, engineer and songwriter, Aamir is much in demand, drawing influence from an array of diverse and exciting artists. After graduating with a degree in music production, Aamir undertook an internship at Metropolis Studios which proved to be his way into the music industry.

Commenting on his top tips for music producers and engineers, Aamir said:

"My top tip for music producers is to be ready for anything to happen. That means try and get as much inspiration as you can alongside being organised.

Even if you're working at home with a fairly modest set up, make sure you know where all your good samples are and have your gear ready - have everything plugged in, locked and loaded ready to go. This means you can stop thinking about whatever DAW you're using and instead focus on being completely creative."

Aamir's numerous career highlights include winning a Grammy Award for his engineering role on Rihanna’s 2013 album ‘Unapologetic’ and collaborating with high profile artists such as David Guetta, Ne-Yo, Sia, Alicia Keys and Will.I.Am. His session with our students saw Aamir discussing his most high-profile successes.
