ICMP Songwriting students and alumni made their annual trip to Nashville and were welcomed by alumna, now hit songwriter, Jessica Sharman.

The ICMP group attended the Tin Pan South Festival as part of the trip, performing their music, recording and attending a co-write at a Nashville studio.

Students and alumni also had the chance to network, play and write songs with students from MTSU and Belmont, the two big songwriting programmes at universities in Nashville.

ICMP alumna Jessica Sharman, now an acclaimed songwriter in her own right, performed at the event and met with students. She hosted brunch where students had the chance to ask questions about the industry, then go to watch her perform at the festival.

Commenting, Jessica said:

It was so lovely to meet all the wonderful ICMP students - what a beautiful bunch they all are, it meant so much to have them all at the Tin Pan round."

Sophie Daniels, ICMP’s Head of Songwriting, said: "As ever we had a transformational week in Nashville, the town where songs are the strongest currency and where everyone you meet is a songwriter. We attended Tin Pan South, the ultimate inspiring songwriting festival."

"This year the schedule was packed and we wrote more than ever. We also heard brilliant songs played and learned the writing process behind them from the world's top writers as well as attended showcases from new records coming out and the writing and production team behind each presenting their vision."

Letizia Ghisletta, ICMP MA Songwriting student, said:

Thanks so much for Nashville for organising all these amazing activities, for your awesome facilitation at the beginning of the co-write, and for the incredible Q&A with Jessica."

"It's been so inspiring, and I am very grateful for this. I loved every minute of it!"

Jessica Sharman is a number one, gold disc selling songwriter, topliner and producer, most famously with country artists Ward Thomas whose second album ‘Cartwheels’  went straight to the top of the UK charts.

Her songs have had over 27 million streams worldwide - several being featured on Spotify's NMF and Apple Music playlists - and have also spent consecutive weeks on BBC Radio 2 playlists, as well as multiple plays on Radio 1 (Best New Pop), Radio X and 6 Music. She's also had her songs placed in film and TV, most notably ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy', as well as podcasts and adverts worldwide.
