As an ICMP student, you will have access to a huge range of resources to take your music and academic career to the next level during your time with us.

From our state-of-the-art facilities to our Careers and Industry Hub and Marketing teams, ICMP staff are on hand to support you and your music on every step of your journey.

Our Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is an integral part of this, a dedicated floor of books, computers and communal areas for study and collaboration.

Here’s what is available and how you can get the most from the LRC during your time with us…

The ICMP library

The LRC is open 8am-10pm every day of the week and offers all the core and recommended module texts, in-depth digital and archive collections, Mac workstations as well as a printer and photocopier.

Our LRC librarians are available 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. A self-service system is available outside these core hours while you will also have online access to ICMP’s library catalogue too.

Our collection is mainly focused on music and performing arts, but we have texts on many other topics such as philosophy, social research, business, marketing, mental and physical health.

Our expert staff

ICMP librarians are available 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Our team is also available to answer any questions relating to locating and accessing resources by email too.

Students can also book 1-1 appointments with us where we can provide general academic support, research assistance, and stylistic/formatting guidelines for academic work.

Get to know Subject Librarian Cristina Ferrer in our recent blog interview on her, her role and the LRC.

You can also Ask the Librarian if you need help with defining your dissertation topic, developing your research strategy, locating and using sources and more.

E-Library and resources

Alongside physical copies of key texts and research, ICMP’s library also provides a wide variety of e-resources and archived collections.

Core texts from module reading lists will be available to students as eBooks meaning they will be accessible both on and offsite.

You will also be able to take advantage of digital access to Bloomsbury Music and Sound, Rock’s Backpages, Music Ally, and Music Week so you can stay on top of the latest research and music industry trends and topics.

Virtual learning

At ICMP, students can take advantage of Canvas, a virtual campus which allows you to review course information, submit work, upload videos, and check the progress of any submissions or other elements of your studies.

Our state-of-the-art digital ecosystem also includes the student information portal My.ICMP. This includes important information relating to every aspect of life at ICMP – from booking studios and accessing wellbeing support, to taking part in unique music industry opportunities offered by our Careers and Industry Hub.

The latest IT equipment

More than 120 iMacs are available for our students to use to enhance their learning.

These devices come fully equipped with Microsoft applications as well as industry-standard DAWs such as Logic, ProTools and Ableton.

All ICMP students receive their own Office365 account - this means you can install this Microsoft software across different devices as well as access a very useful 1TB of online storage.
