Congratulations to emerging songwriter Yewon Shin who has been announced as the winner of ICMP's Korean Songwriting Scholarship.
Presented in partnership with online retailer Schoolmusic, one of South Korea's top music instrument and gear sellers, the competition is a platform open to all emerging artists.
ICMP is proud to have been working with the brand from 2013 and has held the contest every year since.
Yewon Shin was judged winner of the contest by Ace, ICMP's Head of Industry Partnerships and Business Development and Min Woo, our South Korean representative and alumnus.
Yewon is a guitar student at Sungshin University in Seoul and already works as a professional session guitarist and a songwriter for the K-Pop industry.
Commenting on her achievement, she said:
Unbelievable. I didn’t expected anything really but I won the competition. Thank you so much indeed for ICMP who gave me this priceless opportunity. I'm really looking forward to taking the ICMP Online Songwriting courses soon!"
The prize is usually an invitation to our ICMP Summer Schools. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Yewon was offered the chance to study three of our six-week Online Songwriting Courses.
The winner was judged to have the best mixture of creativity, originality and music production quality in her entry.
