ICMP Graduate Awards highlights video 2017

ICMP held its annual Graduate Awards at Cadogan Hall on 4th November 2017 with more than 200 students graduating from our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The venue was packed with family, friends and supporters all in attendance to help celebrate a huge day in the life of our grads.

All guests  were greeted by our tutor Audrey Riley’s classical quartet while MA Songwriting graduate Sam Firth also gave a great acoustic performance during the event.

Commenting on the success of the students, Sophie Daniels, Songwriting programme leader, said: "This was the first run of the MA Songwriting and we had fantastic results, not just in the student feedback we received, not just in terms of the awards achieved (five merits and one distinction) but also because we had such a lovely group of engaged students to work with. The highlight of the programme was the final module, ‘Major Repertoire Project’, where students work on one large scale songwriting project, typically a debut album or song cycle or show reel.

Every one of the students worked hard with their personal supervisors, really dug deep and the results were incredible with some beautiful pieces of work presented. This not only scored very highly in assessments but created some song projects that I think you will be hearing more about in future."

Sam Firth is just one of many tipped to follow in the footsteps of ICMP success stories such as Elena Tonra from indie rockers Daughter, Andrew Davies of Bear’s Den and Clean Bandit’s Luke Patterson.
