We were recently lucky enough to welcome acclaimed solo artist, Laura Mvula band member and ICMP tutor Oli Rockberger for an exclusive masterclass.
Oli has had a colourful music industry career to date after landing a scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music.
Commenting on the importance of his music education, Oli said: “Going to Berklee was very important in my development. I got the chance to go and study American music in America.
One of the best things about music education and studying at somewhere like Berklee or ICMP is the people you get to meet. Being around like minds, being inspired, people pushing you in a good way - to be around fellow creatives, faculty and a very supportive environment is a great thing for a young musician."
After completing his education, Oli has gone on to enjoy an extremely successful career sharing stages and studios with artists like Carly Simon, John Mayer, Levon Helm, Common and Gloria Gaynor, and with iconic jazz/soul/R'n'B instrumentalists including Steve Gadd, Steve Jordan, Nathan East, Chris 'Daddy' Dave.
He joined the touring band of UK artist Laura Mvula and recently released his fourth solo album ‘Sovereign’.
