ICMP students were treated to a brilliant masterclass from Charlie Griffiths and Richard Henshall, guitarists from prog-rock legends Haken.
The pair visited ICMP to share their music industry experiences in one of the hardest working guitar acts in the business.
Alongside their guitar teaching and clinics, Haken recently released their critically acclaimed album 'Vector' and have been on the road performing their music in front of some of their biggest audiences to date.
In their guitar masterclass, Charlie and Richard showed off their incredible instrumental skills, shared insight on the industry as well as their songwriting and creative process.
Commenting on breaking into the music industry, Charlie said:
We found the best way to get a foot in the door was to get on the bills of music festivals. Word gets around, then suddenly you find yourselves booking a two week tour of your own headline shows."
He added: "Make sure you can play well and you're easy to work with, then it grows from there. You can build your reputation from that."
ICMP students learned how Haken's 'Vector' was recorded. They were also treated to demonstrations of Charlie and Richard's incredible playing.
Charlie is no stranger to ICMP, having been a student with us when we were known as The Guitar Institute. He's a member of our teaching faculty and we were delighted to welcome both him and Richard for what was an inspiring session.
