ICMP and ATLA Songwriting Students

ICMP in partnership with France’s ATLA Music school and and Le Réacteur are proud to present the fourth annual ICMP/ATLA/Le Réacteur International Songwriting Contest.

The competition will launch in January 2020 and is open to all students of ATLA in Paris and songwriting students at ICMP in London.

Students will have the possibility of presenting their original song in front of a jury of music professionals.

The winners will get the chance to record the song in a studio along with a video of a live performance filmed and edited by professionals. A residency with intensive training and a paid concert as an opening act in a concert promoted by Le Réacteur will be included.

The finale of the 2019 contest, held on Thursday 21st March, saw five ICMP students travel to Paris to perform their own original material and compete with ATLA finalists in front of a packed crowd in ATLA’s Woodstock concert room. First year songwriting student Leah Finegold was one of the winners

Shane Beales, ICMP Songwriting degree Programme Leader, said:

I am delighted that the ICMP/ATLA/Le Réacteur International Songwriting competition will be returning for a fourth year in 2020. The event offers our songwriting students a fantastic opportunity to showcase their music on the international stage as well as some career enhancing prizes."

He continued: "Not only that but it also helps them expand their networks beyond the UK. I can’t wait to hear this year’s entries.”

More details about this competition will be sent to ICMP songwriting students throughout December.

About the ICMP / ATLA / Le Réacteur International Songwriting Contest

ICMP has seen its partnership with ATLA – France’s largest contemporary music school – grow over the past six years, generating ongoing collaborative opportunities between Paris and London for both staff and students. The introduction of the International Songwriting competition in 2016 took this to the next level, inspiring and supporting aspiring songwriters all over Europe. The addition this year of music industry partner Le Réacteur – an events company which hosts an impressive programme of professional concerts, master classes, jam sessions, open mic events, festivals and gigs for emerging artists, and an annual Battle of the Bands – has seen the competition go from strength to strength.
