Frequently Asked Questions

When is the event taking place?

We are excited to announce that this year's ICMP Graduation Ceremony will take place at the stunning Troxy venue, on Sunday 3rd December 2023.

  • Doors open at 11am for gowns and photography
  • Guests to be seated at 1pm
  • Ceremony begins at 1.30pm

What will happen on the day?

In the beautiful venue of the Troxy, you will arrive with your guests in the morning and head into the hall to take photos and meet with your fellow graduates. With talks from your tutors at ICMP, awards will be presented as we celebrate your success.

Will I receive my certificate on the day?

When you go to collect your award on stage, you'll have a picture with your tutor and a prop certificate. We will contact you after graduation to come and pick it up at ICMP or alternatively have it posted to you safely.

Will there be gowns?

As you know, ICMP has been awarded degree powers and with this being the first year we can have a dedicated ICMP Graduation Ceremony; gowns will be available for you to use!

Can I get a robe on the day?

Yes, but there is a £10 surcharge, bringing the total cost to £38

Do I need to have a gown?

If you are going on stage to graduate, there is an expectation that you have a gown to graduate in, along with your fellow graduands.

Will there be a cloakroom?

There is not a cloakroom for this event, however it is seated so you are welcome to leave your bags and coats at your seats. There is no buggy parking for this event.

Can I bring food and drink in?

No hot food or bottled drinks are allowed in, or chewing gum, but you may bring snacks and cold items.

Is there a bag limit?

Yes, there is a size limit on bags, no bigger than A4. Please at all costs try to avoid bringing suitcases and large bags, but for those travelling internationally we will do our best to accommodate if you are unable to store them anywhere else.

What should I wear?

As graduation is a formal occasion, an appropriate standard of dress is expected. National dress of your home country is also acceptable. Please note that casual clothes such as jeans, shorts or t-shirts are not suitable and should be avoided. At the end of the day, this is a celebration so wear clothes that make you feel good!

How to get there – NOTE DLR disruptions:

DLR: Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 December, no service between Poplar / Stratford International and Beckton / Woolwich Arsenal. Use Jubilee line services between Stratford, West Ham and Canning Town. Replacement buses operate.

Can I buy on the door?

There will be a limited number of guest tickets available on the door to purchase. This will be first-come, first-served unless you have already spoken to the Events Team and agreed before the event.

Are children allowed?

whilst this is a time for families to celebrate together, under 8's are advised not to be in the auditorium following the ceremony. Guests can remain in the circle seats/circle bar area, for which there is a great view of the band!

Do I have to pay for a child’s ticket?

If your child will be in their own seat, and not on a guests’ lap, then you will be required to purchase a ticket for them.

Once I’ve had my photo taken, can I leave the venue and come back again?

Yes, but you will be re-searched on entry.

If I haven’t booked photography in advance, can I still have my photo taken on the day?

If there is availability on the day, then this will be possible. Please note there will also be a photo of you receiving your award on stage available to purchase for £10.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes, please see here for more information: https://troxy.co.uk/visitor-info/accessibility/

Specific to this event, there is a photobooth set up on the ground floor, so you don’t have to go up to the VIP room via stairs for photos. If you haven’t already contacted the events team to make aware of access requirements, please contact us in advance to discuss this. If you would prefer to not go on stage to collect your certificate, please also contact events@icmp.ac.uk in advance
