About your MA Songwriting Degree

This course is an industry-focused and practice-based creative songwriting programme, which will support you as you fully examine and explore your songwriting goals and creative ambitions. You’ll be encouraged to adjust and improve your writing as you see fit, engage with professional songwriting ideals at the deepest possible level, and align your own creative practice with those goals.

The modules you will explore will guide and challenge you through this process of creative development, as you discover more about your own writing process and intentions. We will also hone your critical and analytical skills, expand your professional network, further your entrepreneurial skills, and provide new employment and career opportunities. This course will culminate in a Major Repertoire Project – a large-scale songwriting portfolio which will embody your best work to date, your professional creative practice, and your fully realised individual research intentions.

Our Masters in Songwriting continues ICMP’s established practice of close connectivity and engagement with the music business, using dual-practitioner tutors and a keen focus on industry-relevant vocational and entrepreneurial development.
