ICMP SPOTLIGHT: 6th June 2017
‘I Don't Mind' - BURNZ
What is the ICMP ‘Spotlight’?
With so many amazing successes, it’s hard to keep track of what ICMP students and graduates are achieving! So we thought we’d help a little by highlighting a track each week from a selected ICMP artist who is already attracting industry attention and starting to make waves in the business, putting one of them under a Spotlight of our own.
This week’s Spotlight artist
Burnz, otherwise known as ICMP BA Songwriting graduate Joe Bernie, is scheduled to play two solo performances at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. Burnz recently headlined a gig at the Monarch in Camden and have regularly performed at Sofar Sounds, This Feeling and Roundhouse Rising, earning praise from the likes of Phil Manzanera of the legendary Roxy Music. They will be playing dates across the UK this summer and are currently recording their latest album.
The track we have chosen, ‘I Don’t Mind’, was recorded for Sofar Sounds with the London Contemporary Voices choir back in 2015, and gives a little taste of the soul- filled vocal stylings you expect from his upcoming performances at Glastonbury.
In addition to Glastonbury, you can see Burnz live this summer at a number of festivals including:
- Barn on The Farm (29 June, Gloucester, UK)
- DeebsDay 2017 (29 July, Hemel Hempstead, UK)
- Always the Sun 2017 (8 – 10 September, Guilford, UK)
- The Castle Tavern (14 October, Luton, UK)
How ICMP helped
As part of our ongoing programme that we provide to all our students, ICMP’s career and industry liaison service, The Hub, provided Burnz with regular advice and support on the development of his music during his time at ICMP. We are delighted that he is now starting to see the results of his talent and hard work and look forward to much success to come!
