Poison and Flames, a group of ICMP students, will be visiting our international partner school Fontys Rockcademie in the Netherlands to participate in a fantastic international music festival in January.
Francesco Pio Ricci, Natalie Miya-Fluxman, Duncan McTaggart and Tega Mendes are students from the BA Creative Musicianship and BMus courses and make up the band. They formed within 24 hours of learning about the opportunity and will be joined by music production student David Smith.
Travelling on Wednesday 17th January, Poison and Flames will be doing a co-writing workshop at Fontys Rockacademie in Tilburg, a gig on Thursday 18th January in Tilburg, then another live show in Groningen at Eurosonic Noorderslag on the Altersonic stage.
They will be joined by bands from other ICMP partner schools across Europe including the renowned Vienna Music Institute.
Commenting on the trip, the band said:
Poison and Flames are beyond excited to perform in a new country with a new audience. We expect it to be one of the most memorable experiences of our careers, and can't wait to share what we have been working on.
David Howells, ICMP, commercial director, has worked to broker and deepen partnerships with schools like Fonty’s.
The aim of the ICMP partner network is to identify and connect schools throughout the world that share the same values and commitment to quality education. It has been conceived so that schools at a range of sizes and stages of development may engage."
"Through the network schools may share good practice, provide support and guidance on development, promote the value of contemporary music education and provide exciting developmental opportunities to all students."
The network is structured to allow schools at a range of stages of development to join and interact with each other.
Fontys aspires to be a dynamic source of knowledge, development, innovation and inspiration. The Fontys University of Applied Sciences is a well-known name in education, not only in Holland, but also in many other parts of the world.
