Student playing guitar

On 22nd October the Institute attended and demonstrated its songwriting talent at a Networking event held at The Paradise in Kensal Rise, North London.

The purpose of the event was to allow BA Songwriting Year 3 students to complete their teams for their Year 3 final project: they needed musicians, stylists, photographers, graphic designers, lighting designers, web designers, etc.
It ran like a Trade Show, with the songwriters setting out their stalls with their music and other products (artwork, ideas, etc) on display.

Richard Strange (the Institute's Collaborative Projects Developer) used his extensive contacts to invite students from UEL, London College of Fashion, Urdang Dance Academy, and BMus and BACM students from the Institute.
We also had artists, managers, and producers from the industry in attendance.
The event was very successful, with many of the BASW Year 3 students completing their band line-ups and meeting stylists, etc.
Some of the writers performed, as did other attenders.

Jay Stapley (Acting Songwriting Programme Leader) said:
"The day was a great success, with the room full of people and energy all day. Next time, we'll need a bigger room!"
