ICMP is launching a new podcast, The Interview Series, featuring conversations with leading music industry professionals recorded during lockdown.

Beginning this Thursday (5th November), the interviews will see ICMP’s marketing team member Lara Magnelli chat with the likes of Kae Tempest session musician, Hinako Omari, top music supervisor Abi Leland, and leading music producer Jack Gourlay about their careers to gain unique insights into the workings of the industry.

Hinako spoke as part of our EQ series about her experiences performing with Georgia, Kae Tempest and KT Tunstall where she played alongside ICMP tutor, Charlotte Hatherley

Commenting, Lara Magnelli said:

Hinako is a great example of how you can be into different things music-wise and still be successful. This series aims to show the value of portfolio careers, how you can change jobs and roles as you find your own way through the industry."

"Talking to her was a real pleasure and I'm looking forward to welcoming her to ICMP as soon as it's possible!"

In the interview, Hinako discusses the challenges of working in the music industry as a woman, her music education and eventually giving up her full-time job in favour of life as a freelance musician. After stints playing with everyone from James Bay to former ICMP alumnus Ed O’Brien, she released her own solo EP, ‘Auraelia', in November 2019.
