Chris Parles

The Institute is proud to announce the appointment of our new music industry consultant Chris Parles who will be joining the Hub team, our college’s careers, talent and professional development department.

Chris studied and attained a 1st class honours degree in Commercial Music at University of Westminster and then went on to have a successful career as Senior A&R Manager at major record companies including Virgin EMI, Universal Records and Sony Music, heading up the A&R department for Fontana/Mercury Records and Brightside Records/Sony. Chris worked with and had international success with multi-platinum selling pop acts Blue, Atomic Kitten, Robert Plant, Lulu, Natalie Imbruglia, David Sneddon and various dance hits, as well as the A&R manager for the hit BBC Fame Academy series. Chris was also artist manager for various UK signed and unsigned artists.

Further afield, Chris has also worked as a consultant for Universal Music Group in Shanghai, China where he consulted on A&R and Marketing for China's number one hit music show, Wor Xing Wor Show. 

Currently, Chris delivers corporate management and executive training courses for Universal Music Group, Sony Electronics, eBay, Telefonica and EA Games and writing educational content for the BPI. Chris is also a member of the UK Music Skills Academy working with UK music and Creative & Cultural Skills (CCS) to improve graduate employability, reduce the music industries’ skills gap and to enhance career potential.
Chris will be available every fortnight to meet with students and alumni seeking advice on careers, project management, goal setting, artist development and continued professional development. Students and alumni wishing to meet with Chris should contact industry liaison officer at
