We are very happy to announce that the ICMP has launched a BA (Hons) Creative Music Production Degree and a Professional Diploma in Music Production, with the first intake starting in September of 2016. Drawing on the talent and experience of leading figures from the music and recording industries, we have created our new programmes to provide students with the skills and confidence required to develop a successful career in the music industry. Areas covered include studio recording and engineering, digital music production, and songwriting, as well as creative live sound production. Students will also learn about music for multimedia, the business of music, and how to market and monetise music in today’s ever changing music industry landscape.
To mark our new course, we are building a new state of the art recording facility. This will incorporate a teaching control room, two live rooms, three production rooms and a twelve seat iMac technology suite. Students will learn how to use industry standard equipment and software including Pro Tools, Logic Pro X and Ableton Live, and will have access to a wide range of analogue recording equipment and software.
Class sizes are small and students will be allocated lots of hands-on time in our studio facilities. It is this high level of practical activity that we believe will create confident graduates with relevant skills that are truly valued by employers in the music industry. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with talented students from the our other performance, songwriting and music business faculties.
The courses have been validated by the University of East London and we will shortly be announcing our list of education and industry partners, and a scholarship with a top audio manufacturer. We are also building a faculty team which will consist of leading educators, music producers, engineers, music business and marketing professionals. This will ensure that our students are guaranteed to learn from the very best talent from the industry.
