Beyoncé’s former bassist and Assistant MD, Divinity Roxx, recently took time out of her hectic schedule to visit the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and give an exclusive masterclass to students at its London campus.
Fresh from performing and presenting at the London Bass Guitar Show 2015, Divinity spoke to students about her experiences of touring as a musician and performing as an artist in her own right. She spoke about learning as you go along, technology, resources and professionalism and enjoyed answering the many questions the students asked, commenting: "What a great group of students! I can't wait to learn the many incredible stories that will come from this group."
Divinity Roxx’s career as a bass-player skyrocketed after she attended a bass camp led by the legendary Victor Wooten and was invited to tour with him merely three months later. She then auditioned for Beyoncé, was selected as a band member and assistant Musical Director, and toured and worked with the superstar for over 5 years. She has appeared on countless television shows including The Grammy’s, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Saturday Night Live, and Good Morning America as well as performing a show at The White House for President Barack Obama and his family with Beyoncé.
Divinity has also been the Musical Director for K-Pop sensation, 2NE1 and has appeared on records by Will.I.Am, Beyonce, and Polow Da Don.
