What is clearing?
Clearing is the final part of the UCAS application process which allows you to find a place at university if you don't yet hold an offer.
You might apply through Clearing because:
- you have not met the conditions of your offers
- you changed your mind about your firm or insurance choice
- you applied through UCAS after 30 June 2015.
If you do find yourself in Clearing, don't worry – over 55,000 students secured a university place this way in 2013.
I'm an EU/international student – can I apply through Clearing?
Yes, absolutely – Clearing is open to anyone who meets the above criteria, regardless of where they are applying from.
When is Clearing?
Clearing runs from 1 July to 21 October 2015, which is the deadline for adding Clearing choices on UCAS Track.
Please be aware, the Institute will accept students until the 16th October so please ensure you apply in time.
How do I enter Clearing?
How you enter Clearing depends on your circumstances. You must pay the full £22 application fee to use the service, but UCAS applicants who applied for more than one university will have already paid this fee.
- If you have not met the conditions of your offers…
UCAS will enter you into Clearing automatically and your Clearing number will show on Track.
- If you have changed your mind about your firm or insurance...
You need to phone the universities in question and ask them to release you. Once you have been released, UCAS will enter you into Clearing and your Clearing number will show on Track.
- If you do not have a UCAS profile or set one up after 30 June…
UCAS will automatically enter you into Clearing if this is the first time you are making an application for 2015 courses.
If you have any questions about when or how to apply, or how clearing might affect you, call our Admissions Team on 0207 328 0222.
We will also be hosting clearing information drop-in sessions on the 17th of July and the 14th of August, after our Backstage Pass Tour from 5-6pm at the Institute. Book your place now!
