If you're looking to study one of our Guitar courses, our experience days are FREE hands-on taster sessions held at our ICMP London campus.  Each Experience day is made up of workshops, classes and masterclass sessions, giving you the opportunity to learn new skills, master new techniques, interact with your potential tutors and meet your fellow class members.

Masterclasses, recording sessions and facilities tour

The day runs from 11am to 4pm, with lunch included. You will attend a morning and afternoon session: during the morning session, you will be put into groups and attend a 2 hours masterclass in guitar technique, while during the afternoon session you will participate in a genre specific class held by our guitar tutors. 

In between, you'll get to have a tour of the ICMP campus in , guided by our staff; you'll be able to see our fantastic facilities, from our classrooms and performance studios, to our recording studios and tech labs.

Following the tour, you'll meet the team at The Hub, our music industry experts and career counselors, which will explain and talk you through their role in helping shape the careers and opportunities of our students.

Please note, we currently have no Experience Days planned for 2019. However, we hold regular Open Days and Backstage Pass Tours, these are the perfect chance to discover more about ICMP and your future music career.

INDUSTRY TUTORS

Martin GouldingGuitar

Martin Goulding is a busy session musician and has become one of the foremost modern rock educators in the UK. Having graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology in 1993, Martin joined ICMP faculty specialising in modern rock techniques. Martin is a regular columnist for Guitar Techniques, Total Guitar, and Guitar World, and released his first professional tuition DVD through Future Publishing in 2011.

Tolis ZavaliarisGuitar

Tolis has collaborated, performed, and toured with many artists such as Vanessa Mae, Livan, Anna Savege, The Duvets, The Locals, Me’sha Bryan, Killiopi, and many more. He has also worked with producers Peter Greenwell (Flop-Star), Benny D (Depeche Mode), John Robertson (Morcheeba), David Crefield (Kaiser Chiefs). He is regular contributor to Guitar Techniques magazine and All Out Guitar.

Charlie GriffithsGuitar

Charlie Griffiths is a guitarist and educator, adept at rock, heavy metal, and pop guitar playing. He has a wealth of experience playing corporate and session gigs, as well as touring with his own critically acclaimed progressive metal band, Haken. He has also been a regular contributor to the magazines Total Guitar, Guitar Techniques, and Guitar World for over ten years.

Professional Music Facilities

During the Experience Days, you will get a chance to tour our fantastic facilities. At ICMP, we are committed to investing in the best teaching and learning environment for our students, with the latest equipment always available. 

We offer our music students many large live performance rooms with stages, together with sound-isolation booths across both our buildings. Students also have access to a comprehensive range of industry-standard recording and production facilities. This includes exclusive access to our electronic music production studio, our production booth and mobile recording rigs & recording booths.

And did you know? All ICMP students can use our music facilities for personal practice free of charge outside of time tabled hours, and we are open 7 days a week!

The Hub at ICMP

You will also meet and talk to the team at The Hub during your experience day. The Hub is the link between the classroom, the music industry and your future career, providing the students with a wide range of advice and guidance, including one to one sessions with professional music industry advisers and career guidance professionals.

Run by a team of music industry professionals and experienced careers counsellors, the team is on hand from day one to support ICMP students in taking the first steps towards a career in the music industry or in wider employment. Their support doesn't end at graduation, as they keep providing advice and help to our ICMP graduates whenever they need.

Ed O'Brien (Radiohead)Guitar

Ed O'Brien was an ICMP student when we were known as the Guitar Institute. Since completing his guitar tuition with our very own Iain Scott, Ed has gone on to huge success as a member of the globally renowned band Radiohead, for whom he plays guitar and sings harmony vocals.

Jon GommGuitar

Jon Gomm is an English singer-songwriter and performer. Using a single acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, bass lines and melodies simultaneously, his songs draw on a range of influences and styles including blues, soul, rock and even metal. To date he has recorded three solo albums and has toured full-time since 2004. He is often a member of the "Guitar Masters tour", alongside its founder Preston Reed and Andy McKee.

Justin SandercoeGuitar

Justin Sandercoe is a supremely talented guitarist and tutor. After graduating from the Guitar Institute (now ICMP), he began teaching his impressive skills to others, both here at the ICMP and online on his own website. His tutorial videos have had over a whopping 100 million views on YouTube, and have made him into one of the most well-known guitar instructors around.
