ICMP is delighted to be co-hosting a masterclass with guitar virtuoso and ICMP alumni Jon Gomm.
The event will see the brilliant guitarist hosting a session that demonstrates his innovative playing, techniques and more. Following the class, Jon will host his Guitarnival event alongside Russian player Alexandr Misko.
Who is Jon Gomm?
Jon Gomm, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK, is an acoustic singer-songwriter loved by guitar fans and more for his revolutionary virtuoso guitar style.
He uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting with his music influenced by everyone from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.
His live shows combine deeply personal performances and a natural wit, with a once seen, never forgotten two-handed guitar style, both physical and complex, producing sounds people can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar.
Since completing his studies at Leeds College of Music and with us at ICMP, Jon is a much in-demand performer. His song ‘Passionflower’ went viral online, with the video passing 6 million hits, resulting in national TV appearances in the UK, Portugal, Holland, Brazil and Turkey, and beyond.
