Taking place on Thursday 30th July at 7pm, the ICMP Supports: How Mental Health Impacts Your Songwriting online event will feature two members of our songwriting teaching faculty alongside an ICMP alumnus talking candidly about the various mental health issues they have faced and how these challenges have impacted their approach to the creative process.

The session will see each explore their own musical journey as well as sharing their advice and insight for anyone facing similar challenges or issues around mental health.

The panel

Jonathan Whiskerd | Head of Undergraduate Programmes

Jonathan is an award-winning songwriter and experienced recording artist. He has collaborated with writer-producers Joshua Blair (Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars), Sophie Daniels (Joelle Moses, Westlife), Paul Stanborough (Guy Chambers, Cathy Dennis), Bruce Hughes (Jason Mraz) and Igor Haefeli (Daughter) in studios across the UK and the US.

Alongside his role at ICMP, Jonathan works as a standalone songwriter on a range of artist projects in London and Nashville.

Hannah Rose Platt | Songwriting Tutor

Hannah Rose Platt is a Liverpudlian singer-songwriter, steeped in the traditions of American country music. She has toured extensively in the UK and USA and recorded with Grammy Award-winning musicians.

She recently released her second album, ‘Letters Under Floorboards’ and toured with the Long Ryders last year.

Sam Firth | Songwriting Alumnus

Sam Firth is an MA Songwriting alumnus and contemporary singer/songwriter focused on storytelling with a highly conversational and introspective lyrical style. His live performances are well known for their emotional honesty and a must see.
