Everything we do at ICMP is geared towards preparing our students for successful careers within the music industry, and on Thursday 1st March, we’ll be hosting an exclusive Auditions Workshop to ensure ICMP students are fully prepared to ace their next audition.
For this workshop we’ll be welcoming leading concert artist Emma Kershaw(Little Mix, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams) and renowned vocal coach David Combes (Beyoncé, Elton John, Bring Me The Horizon) to ICMP. They bring an enviable knowledge of industry auditions and will be covering everything you can expect to encounter when a big opportunity presents itself.
This interactive workshop will be pitched at all instrumentalists, so whether your drummer, guitarist, bass player or vocalist, you’ll learn how to maximise your presence and opportunities at your next audition.
There will be some generic hints and tips for all auditions (coping with nerves, preparation etc) and we will then look whether the audition is for individual artist development/representation, a singing agency, or for a band backing vocals/lead vocals set up.
This will be an interactive workshop, and ‘real life’ as possible and students should be prepared to show us how they audition; including how they would dress and what they would bring with them (headshots, biographies/CVs), including any links to their online presence. Everyone in the room will be able to perform, so we want everyone to bring backing tracks or sheet music to sing along to in exactly the format they would take at auditions. Many auditions for backing vocalists expect you to be able to create BVs or hear them in the background of a pre-sent track, so we will be asking people in groups to do exactly that and showing ways to finding those parts.
Book your place
This workshop is open to ICMP Students and Alumni and will be held in our main performance room 101A. Students can reserve their place through timetable.icmp.ac.uk and Alumni can book a place by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
