The Institute’s Background and Diploma Course:
The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading schools of modern music. Located in London and established over a quarter of a century ago, we have been developing and delivering cutting-edge courses to students of contemporary music for longer than any other UK-based school.
The focus of the Diploma is very much on playing in bands, with lots of performance opportunities each week and throughout the programme. You will form bands, choose, create and rehearse repertoire and deliver the results where it counts – on stage. You will learn about a range of contemporary styles, study the techniques and theory of your instrument, and develop your creativity and songwriting skills. Additionally, all students study keyboard skills, gain an understanding of the music business, and explore various social and historical issues surrounding contemporary music.
