We're excited to announce this new episode of our 'In Conversation' series. This event will show The Anchoress in Conversation with Hannah Peel and is a special for International Women's Day.

Propelled by the Manic Street Preachers’ lyric “libraries gave us power”, The Anchoress (aka Welsh producer and multi-instrumentalist, Catherine Anne Davies) is a voracious devourer of words and music. In fact, Bloomsbury published her PhD in English Literature just before she released her critically-celebrated debut album, Confessions of a Romance Novelist.

Davies has spent much of the last four years developing her writing and engineering skills to become one of the most interesting up-and-coming songwriters and producers in the UK (winning the PRS Writer/Producer award in 2019) and has collaborated with a variety of artists including the London Philharmonic, Nitin Sawhney, Ed Harcourt, Bernard Butler, Liam Howe (Jessie Ware, Marina), and Paul Statham (Kylie, Dido).

The Art of Losing, the second album from the Anchoress, will be released on March 12th 2021 (via Kscope) and features guest appearances from James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers) as well as legendary drummer Sterling Campbell (David Bowie, Duran Duran).

Hannah Peel is a Northern Irish artist, composer, producer and broadcaster. Often inspired by the connections between science and music, her solo record career includes the album Awake But Always Dreaming, which became an ode to her grandmother’s mind as she lived with dementia.

A regular collaborator with Paul Weller, in 2018 she conducted and wrote all the orchestral arrangements for his shows at London's Royal Festival Hall and contributed to his new no.1 album ‘On Sunset’. A year later Peel composed and recorded the soundtrack for Game of Thrones: The Last Watch which earned her an 2019 Emmy nomination for ‘Outstanding Music Composition For A Documentary Series Or Special (Original Dramatic Score)’.
